It has been reported to both Block House MUD and the Owner’s Association that Block House residents have recently been experiencing nighttime car break-ins. Should you experience a break-in, please report the incident to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Their non-emergency number is 512-864-8282.

Block House MUD also contracts for supplemental patrols by off duty sheriff’s deputies. If you have been burglarized, report the break-in to Block House MUD, www.blockhousemud.com, using Contact Us/General Question, and your address will be provided to the patrolling deputies.

Here for you are some tips to help prevent car break-ins and the potential aftermath of having property stolen:

  • Keep things out of sight—stored under the seat, in the glovebox, in the trunk, or better yet, removed from the vehicle.

  • Avoid leaving valuables in the car—shopping bags, suitcases, laptop accessories, GPS devices, and smartphones entice thieves.

  • Keep your car secure—lock the doors and make sure all windows are rolled up.

  • Park in a visible area—near a light or in view of a security camera.

  • Consider antitheft devices—thieves will avoid breaking into cars they can see they have an alarm; there are also inexpensive products that only make it look like a car has an alarm, which can also help prevent car break-ins.

  • Mark property inside your vehicle with identification—law enforcement suggests using your driver’s license number or ID number; marked property has a better chance of being returned; keep serial numbers of electronic equipment such as computers, IPODs, GPS, and cellular telephones.

  • Remove personal identification documents from the vehicle—ownership title, registration, insurance documentation, and credit cards.
